Quick Update: Airbrush

I had a super stressful week this week, so I’m taking it easy on the post. Just a little news about using airbrushes.

I’ll say I’ve decided to trash my Timbertech BD-130 after it’s ruined basically two models and required me to strip them. I found it doesn’t actually provide double-action and has a huge tendency to just not feed paint, even when thinned wayyyy down.

After that gets here, the Timbertech goes in the garbage.

I switched to an Iwata Neo CN last month and when I first used it I could be heard audible saying, “WOOOOAH.” It was such a huge improvement I basically didn’t use the Timbertech anymore and I now understand the crummier airbrush was why I was having so much trouble with the effort.

I guess there is a cost limit to what airbrush a new user can get after all. I don’t know if there’s something better for only a little more money, but these $70 entry-level brushes provide a huge difference over the super cheap ones.

So I guess the statement is modified a little: Get a great tank, but also try to get something cheap from a major brand so you get a good product and don’t get frustrated by something that just plain doesn’t work.

I have a Badger Patriot 105-1 coming from Spraygunner to provide me with a slightly better paint and also give me a backup when my Neo is being cleaned. After that gets here, the Timbertech goes in the garbage. Seriously. At least it was only $17.
